On Friday, I posted about the importance of bringing to your professional endeavors the skills and perspectives gained from living a rich life, and not apologizing for their sources.
Today, I ran across this article, which encourages employers to value those sorts of skillsets for women who have taken a break from the workforce to raise children.
One relevant quote:
Erin Lambert, who works at American Century Investments and goes to grad school part-time, focused on the idea that women bring maternal characteristics to the workplace — multitasking, nurturing, tolerance, education and other assets.
Those attributes, Lambert wrote, should be prized in fast-changing workplaces that need strong customer service, teamwork and inspirational leadership.
Absolutely.
