People go to networking events with what I think of as their “game face.” They smile enthusiastically, spout their 30-second elevator speeches, trade business cards and move on to the next interaction.
I’ve noticed something different since I’ve become a career coach. When people realize what I do, their agenda falls away. And sometimes, people admit the most amazing things about their true aspirations, passions and career goals.
In the past week, I have had three great conversations about possibilities completely off the career track. Conversations that oozed passion, energy, creativity, verve.
I wonder: how often do we give ourselves permission to contemplate our possibilities? When was the last time you allowed yourself space to explore your dreams?
Is “coulda been” ever “can’t”?
