One of the great features of LinkedIn is the recommendations feature, whereby you can share recommendations for your connections, and they can write about how fantastic you are in return.
The limitation of the feature is that they have to write the recommendation and submit it in LinkedIn. This adds credibility to the information, as it must come from a third party, but restricts what sort of references and testimonials you can add.
With VisualCV, there is no such issue. You have complete control over the content. The advantage is the ability to pull together references, recommendations, testimonials and more from a range of sources and display them in one place.
All you do is add a Custom Field to your profile, and insert text accordingly. Here’s one I include on my VisualCV profile:

Now, because you can, theoretically, write whatever you want here, it’s important that you be completely accurate in the recommendations you list. If you can include a name, or even a picture, of the person recommending you, it’s a great help for credibility.
How else could you show your merit in your VisualCV?
