Starting next week, Career Adventure is going to take a little detour.
Loyal readers will remember a couple weeks ago when I asked people to complete a poll on how often they wanted to see blog posts here. The results were pretty evenly spread across the board, and so I’ve spent a lot of time since then kicking around what to do, if anything, with the information.
When I started this blog, I knew I’d have to start with foundational information. The blocking and tackling of career development. For the last nine months, I’ve talked about best practices in management, leadership, job search and more, mostly on a tactical level.
What really engages me though is higher-level thinking. What are the trends? How is the climate changing? How do you deal with complexity? How do you move from capable, to proficient, to masterful? It’s this type of content that can really help people step up their career game.
So part of the impetus for the poll is a recognition that I want to deliver more comprehensive, more in-depth, more challenging content. And I know I can’t do that five days a week.
Monday starts an experiment, where I’ll be focusing on trying to raise the level of discussion on these topics. Let’s talk more than just sound bytes and basics. I invite you to share your experiences and your perspective, to debate ideas, and to learn with us.
For the next month, you’ll see posts three days a week. I’m not sure yet which they’ll be, but likely two weekdays and a weekend day.
For those of you who want more, there’s always the Career Kick Start newsletter, which will continue on the same format.
Got thoughts? Please let me know. I want to hear from you.
See you next week!
